Evelyn Hayes
Evelyn Hayes, 79, a 74-year resident of Olympia, died of cancer, Wednesday, Apr 23, 1997, at home.
She was born July 8, 1917, in Lacey to Albert and Marie (Kohlman) Kramer.
She married William Hayes in 1940 in Auburn. He preceeded her in death.
Mrs. Hayes worked as an address-o-graph operator for the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission from 1953 until her retirement in 1979.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed housekeeping and gardening.
Mrs. Hayes is survived by a son, John M. Ketchikan, Alaska; a sister, Sister Stella Marie, Seattle; three brothers, Edward Kramer, Lacey, and Charles W. Kramer and Robert R. Kramer, both of Olympia; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and 12 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, James; a daughter, Judith; and a granddaughter, Kelly.
A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, in St. Michael Catholic Church, Olympia. The Rev. Michael J. Ryan will officiate.
